Workplace Innovation Journal

I would have to say that my level of creativity would be a 9 on a scale of 1 to 10. I love writing and composing music, that’s why I have to be creative when it comes to composing music and writing my own lyrics. I love creating new music and sometimes I just play and create things out of just messing around. I’m innovative when it comes to getting tasks or doing duties, and finding new ways of doing some of my task or duties to be more time effective and/or to have a more successful outcome. On a scale of 1 to 10 I am an 8 for innovation. Problems I face trying to be innovative or creative would be that I criticize and judge some of my ideas right from the beginning. Another barrier I have is by sometimes having too many ideas and not be able to funnel them down all of the time I brainstorm. I want to break these barriers by not criticizing all my ideas at the beginning, but just trying to run with the first idea that comes in my head. I will also try to be more organized with my thoughts and try to create a better web for me when I brainstorm ideas.

Innovation that is going on around me would be that McDonald’s is trying a new management system that involves new department heads that are in charge of a certain station at Mc Donald’s. So far it is working out, but there are still some communication issues that need to be addressed in this new innovation. Overall this new management style is working and proving to be quite effective for the Mc Donald’s corporation. This class has helped my innovation be stronger to see that two things that have no relation could be used for new innovative ideas. This was shown to me by the video we watched in classroom and it showed items like the GM and the health department collaborating to have a better system to track faulty parts. I really enjoyed being in a group and trying to define creativity, innovation, and thinking critically. It really help me learn from other people to be able to bounce off ideas on each other, so I could better understand what creativity, innovation, and critically thinking are and how they work together.
